NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS & AGE LIMIT FOR INDIAN CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION:

For General Merit Candidates

6 attempts. [Minimum age 21 years & Maximum age 32 years as on 01-08-2016]

For other Backward Class Candidates

9 attempts. [Minimum age 21 years & Maximum age 35 years as on 01-08-2016]

For SC/ST Candidates

No attempts limit [Minimum age 21 years & maximum age 37 years as on 01-08-2016]

Academic Qualifications

Graduate / under graduate (UPSC will not consider percentage of marks or class in Degree)

Civil Service Examination consists of three stages

(Date of Examination July 2017)
It consists of:

1. GENERAL STUDIES  PAPER I 
100 multiple choice questions (each question carries 2marks)…200 Marks
Examination timings: Morning 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM i.e. 2 Hours

2. GENERAL STUDIES (CSAT) PAPER II (Qualifying paper)
80 multiple choice questions (each question carries 2.5 mark) …200 Marks
Examination timings: Morning 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM i.e. 2 Hours
